When to Let a Wheel Decide, and When Not To
Randomising low-stakes choices saves effort; knowing which choices those are is the skill.
Some decisions cost more to deliberate than to get wrong. Where to eat, which chore to start, which revision topic comes first — the options are comparable and the downside is small. Those are the ones worth spinning for.
Only add options you accept
A wheel containing an option you would reject is not a decision aid, it is a way to generate a rerun. Prune the list before spinning.
Watch your reaction
If the result lands and you feel disappointed, that reaction is information: you had a preference the deliberation had not surfaced. Acting on it is entirely legitimate.
Keep consequential choices off the wheel
Anything with financial, legal, medical, or safety consequences deserves thought, advice, and evidence — not a spin.
